Introduction
Are you a food company founder, marketer or team member intrigued by the possibilities of ChatGPT? We’re with you. In this piece, we researched, tested and quality-checked 30 sample prompts that team members of food, beverage, and/or CPG companies can use to streamline their work and maximize their output.
ChatGPT is among the technologies that will drastically change our world. In the food business realm, some have embraced it, others have avoided it, but nearly all of us have heard about it. No matter which camp you fall into, it’s hard to deny the sheer power of the platform and the fact that, in one form or another, it is here to stay.
With that in mind, it’s important to understand and explore its capabilities to remain competitive in the business arena. It has the ability to shave hours and days of work off of tasks and projects. Whether you’re an early-stage food founder doing everything yourself, or part of a larger team, these are items that can either be taken directly off your plate or be leveraged to optimize your performance.
Limitations
But before we dig in, it’s important to consider a few caveats:
The responses are not meant to be used as is. It’s important to quality-check everything it delivers.
It still has some kinks to work through. We occasionally enter prompts and don’t get a response. In those cases, refreshing the page typically helps.
ChatGPT is a worldwide tool with limited server capabilities. The platform may inform you that there are too many other users to generate a response and to try again later.
Getting Started
If you already have a ChatGPT account and know the basics of how to use it, you can skip this section. If you’re completely new to the platform, follow the steps below to get set up.
Go to https://chat.openai.com/auth/login and click “Sign up.”
Follow the steps to create your account and verify your email address
Login to your new account
Use the “Send a message” box at the bottom to type your prompts.
Remember that ChatGPT is exactly as it sounds: it’s a text-based chat with AI. You ask it questions, it responds in seconds. It doesn’t always have the right answers, or an answer at all. But you’ll find that as you learn to ask the right questions, you will get better answers.
The Prompts
Most of the prompts below are meant to be customized based on your company, products and target customer. The items in brackets should be replaced with the relevant information for your brand. For example, if your company sells peanut butter, the first prompt should be changed to something like “Create a peanut butter cupcake recipe with 5 ingredients or less”. Oh, and you can remove the quotations. Have fun!
“Create a [dish] recipe with 5 ingredients or less.”
“Write a [#]-word blog post about the benefits of [ingredient].”
“Caption my Instagram post about [topic].”
“Write a high-converting facebook ad headline promoting [product].”

Chat GPT Upgrade and Alternatives
ChatGPT’s free version is an amazing service that can provide great responses to your prompts, but did you know there are other options you can experiment with? With slightly varying capabilities between each service, you may find that one of these other services (or a combination of them!) may fit your needs better.
The subscription-based paid version of ChatGPT offers a few benefits over the free version. Paying customers receive priority responses and an increase in the number of inquiries allowed per hour. The paid version of ChatGPT also uses a more updated language model that can result in incredibly creative and collaborative responses.
Google has also released their version of an experimental conversations AI service - Bard. Bard works in the same way that ChatGPT does: enter a prompt and get a response. One of the biggest benefits that Bard has to offer is its ability to search the web in real-time to find the most updated information to your requests. While ChatGPT is great for generating innovative text, Bard has the edge in giving you more recent knowledge and data.
If you’re looking for an AI bot to help boost your productivity, Slack GPT may be able to help. Slack is a great collaboration tool for teams, but you’ve probably experienced the huge number of messages that pile up after vacation. Slack GPT can summarize all those messages, give suggestions on next steps to take on a project, and edit your messages to be clear and concise.
Summary
Chat GPT, among other AI chat tools, can be incredibly useful in streamlining specific tasks and even projects for food brand teams. From writing witty Instagram captions to creating email campaigns for upselling, it’s awe-inspiring to see the quality of its output in a matter of seconds.
Still, these tools are only as good as the prompts fed to it by us humans. So though it will likely replace many of the things we used to do, just like the Internet and all technologies did before it, it cannot replace the creativity and innovation that is at the core of the human spirit. Instead, it will lay the foundation for us to be even more productive, expand our creativity, and reach new heights in our professions and beyond.
