25 Year-Old Quarter Pounder, Oprah Loves Truffle Hot Sauce, Greenlandic-Thai Cuisine [11/11/2019 – 11/17/2019]

  • Carl's Jr. turned a lot of heads in the early 2000’s with their risque ad campaigns, using scantily clad woman and expensive cars, but times are changing. In the wake of the #metoo movement, the burger chain has decided to ditch the perverse and focus on what is really important – the food. The change was also prompted by declining sales and a hope of competing with fast food giants Burger King and McDonald’s. 

  • Dean's Dairy, one of the country’s largest dairy producers has filed for bankruptcy. The dairy giant cited an "accelerated decline in the conventional white milk category" as the reason for its financial troubles. Meaning less people are drinking dairy milk, and are instead showing a preference to milk alternatives. Dean’s produces and distributes some of the country's most popular milk and dairy brands, including Dairy Pure, Organic Valley and Land O'Lakes. 

  • An Australian man now holds the record for World’s Oldest Burger, with his 25 year-old Quarter Pounder. Eduard Nitz planned on “saving” the sandwich for his friend, and claims he just forgot about it. 25 years, several continents and a few different owners later, the burger has surfaced. Nitz claims that though the burger has dried out and even shrunk a bit, it never molded or even smelled.

  • Oprah's Favorite Things list has just been revealed and it’s a food lover’s dream! From a vodka infuser to truffle flavored hot sauce, even the pickiest food eater is sure to find something. So, if you’re shopping for the person who has everything, this list might be a lifesaver!

  • A Thai restaurant is heating things up in Greenland! The Inbox Cafe: A Little Corner of Thai is located in the southern city of Qaqortoq, a small town of only around 3,000 total people. The Inbox Cafe is known for fusing traditional Thai dishes with local Greenland cuisine (seal meat curry anyone?). The restaurant is very popular with locals looking for a spicy dish to help beat the frigid Greenland climate. Greenland is home to around 200 Thai immigrants, who came to  the country looking for work. 

  • What do Pepsi and Bravo in have in common? A nonalcoholic sparkling rosé! Lisa Vanderpump from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules has teamed up with the soft drink maker to create a nonalcoholic version of the drink she so famously loves. Sadly, this collaboration is available for purchase only to people attending BravoCon in New York this weekend.

  • Popeye's chicken sandwich hysteria is real and people are getting hurt over it. On November 5th, an altercation broke out at a D.C. area Popeye’s due to line cutting. This resulted in one of the men being stabbed to death, and another on the loose. Police had not identified a suspect until this week – Ricoh McClain the 30 year-old man suspected of murder.
